July 6 Day 35 99 miles
Today, at last, we have left the big hills behind us ( at least until Ohio). This made it a delight to travel over little used country roads. This is still farm country, and we shared some of the roads with farm vehicles. We had the pleasure of Mark's company today. He is part of the staff, and has seen a lot of the country by bicycle.
Our first SAG stop was at a park at the site of Lincoln's boyhood home. The second was at a firehouse, where the department opened their doors to provide welcome shade during the hot afternoon. Temperatures have not broken a hundred for the last several days, but they are 90 and humid. The good thing is the natural breeze created by riding a bike.
We wound our way into Champaign by mid afternoon , just before the skies opened up with rain.

We past by a few small towns, and many farms. Some yards and homes look a lot like those of New England!

Did I mention the they grow corn here.
This was a treat, finding a frozen yogurt shop in Montacello.
Now, at the end, we head for the hotel.

Hi Jamie, I probably won't be able to post this week. We went up to Sebago yesterday for our week, we are back in Falmouth just for the night for a friend's birthday, we head back up to camp again tomorrow and will be there till Saturday. I believe we are in for a beautiful week there. We had a thunderstorm late yesterday afternoon, but today is a beaut and Weather Underground predicts a mostly sunny week.
Ride safely, Jamie. Hope you have a fabulous week.
