June 9 Day 8 55miles

The landscape for today looks a lot like it did yesterday

We started late again due to morning cold temperatures, as low as the 30s. It warmed up pretty fast, but stayed a little cool all day. We had the strongest head wind that I have seen yet, which was a challenge, and I was glad that we only had 55 miles to ride. We started out as a larger group than we have been in the past. This was an advantage, when it came to drafting, since we had more people to take turns. There are still very few places to stop and essentially, just one where we could stop for a bite to eat.

Battle Mountain is a modest sized town, but they had a bar , and a good Mexican restaurant.

Winnemucca has a Basque population, and we were there during the Basque festival, so it was fun to see people dressed in traditional garb for Sunday morning.

We rode as a group which made the going easier...

Though never fast enough to keep up with the Brits, who swished past at our first rest stop

Landscapes were very much the same. Mostly dry, though now with a few wet areas

This is our support crew; Mike, Michelle, Jim, and Mark.

There was one place to stop for food all day, and I had the best turkey sandwich of my life when we finally got there

And we arrive finally in the modest town of Battle Mt. NV
