June 16 Day 15 66 miles

We had a relatively easy day allowing us to start later than usual. The road headed steadily and gradually downhill, making the going easier. We are still riding through a lot of scrubland, but now punctuated by rocky mountains, some with astonishing straight cliffs, dropping from a high, flat plateau.

We calculate that we passed the 1000 mile mark today.

Rain threatened, but barely sprinkled.

The going was easy so we made it to Green River in time for lunch at Ray's Tavern.

There was still time in the afternoon to visit the John Wesley Powell River museum commemorating his amazing journey down the Colorado River.

We had another beautiful day for riding.

The steady downhill slowly reveals new landscapes.

I Stopped at the 1000mile mark to photograph the occasion.

You never know what you are going to find along the way.

In Green River at last, with time to spare for lunch at Ray's Tavern.

Learning a little from the Powell Museum.

I see some green in the fields. Green River must mean water and there will be trees.

I like the down hill riding. Trek Across Maine is done!
