68 miles
We continued cycling eastward (our only direction henceforth), into the drier, agricultural central part of the state. There are tomatoes growing here, fruit, almond trees and, of course, grapes among the vast numbers of other farmed crops.

We stopped midmorning to visit the Jelly Belly factory. This included a tour of the production, and sampling of the goods. We were even sent away with a complementary supply of "sports beans".
Temperatures rose to the high 80s today. A little hot for this Maine boy. I took someone's advice and bought an insulated water bottle at a local bike store. I will need it, with temperatures forecast in the 90s tomorrow.

After biking through the UC Davis campus, and a stop for lunch, we made it to California's capitol city, Sacramento.
Michael and I about to cross into Man can we eat a lot after riding all day!
Sacramento.
