Springfield Illinois

Updated: Feb 19, 2020

July 5 Day 34 106 miles

We started out on the Illinois border, riding east to Springfield the capital most famous as Lincoln's home. It was hot and humid, raining for an hour in the morning.

It was a day for riding, without stops for recreation or photos. I did take a couple.

We start out riding through small towns and countryside.

We have our first SAG stop in one of these very small towns.

Then over the Illinois River...

And on to the next SAG stop. You get the idea. You have seen plenty of pics of me eating, so I thought I would throw in this photo from the SAG stop.

We ride through the center of Springfield on the way to our hotel.

Sadly, our hotels are often in the more industrial part of town. That is our hotel in the left side of the photos. In any event, the hotels all look the same on the inside.

This hotel makes up for it with free happy hour. (Jake, me, Mark, Jim and Michael)
