The Finger Lakes of New York

Updated: Feb 19, 2020

July 18 Day 47 70 miles

We are riding straight east over the top of the New York Finger Lakes. It is dry today, though humid. This was a relatively relaxed day, with a lot fewer flats ( the Brits call them punctures which makes them sound less catastrophic). The shorter day allowed us time to stop at a lake and to visit a diner in the morning. We rode through a long stretch of rough road under construction, and finished the day riding on country roads and through small towns.

We start the day riding through the fog and are soon overtaken by the Brits.

We ride out onto the causeway on the lake at Geneva, NY.

We take a break in the morning for coffee and calories at Coaches Diner.

There was one SAG stop today at Montezuma Wildlife Preserve. I didn't know that there was a Montezuma in NY.

Jim Nealon shows the proper approach to puncture repair ( have Jim Benson do it )

We make one last stop at the old Erie Aqueduct before ending the day in Syracuse, NY.
