73 miles June 8

Another solid day of riding through the dry scrublands of Nevada. It was a cool day. The temperature was in the 40s at the start of the day (it felt like Maine), so they delayed our start until 8:00. The landscape is very much like yesterday, but still fascinating due to it's striking difference from Maine.

There was a chunk of highway riding, still on Rt 80, and there will be plenty more in Nevada, as well as Utah. I rode with Jim and Michael all day today. This was a big help, since we are still riding into the wind. Taking turns drafting made this easier, and made the day go by faster. The islands of civilization are spread far apart, so there were few places to stop along the way and our SAG stops today were both at truck stops.

We spend tonight in Winnemucca, NV. Even colder temperatures are expected for tomorrow. Better that than 100 degree days!

We started with breakfast at the Cowpoke Cafe.

Ww were sometimes on the highway...

Some times off the highway..

sometimes under the highway....

Drafting in line made the day go by a lot faster.

For several miles, we shared the road with a bunch of these little guys.

The landscape didn't change much all day, but the road signs provided a share of entertainment.

The sag stops always make me happy.

Looks like a nice group of guys. What is average age? Oldest? Youngest? Hope you see some trees today.

Wow, Jamie, I am impressed and amazed that you are already out of California and into Nevada, and I am also surprised to read that the temp is in the 40s. I imagined Nevada as being hotter, though I guess the altitudes make for cooler temps, High Plains Drifter phenomenon.
