-92 miles-
This was one long day. We had one last glimpse of the snowy Sierras before leaving Sparks, NV. We rode on Route 80 for much of the morning, hugging the strip of shoulder as far as possible from the careening traffic. There was a steady stream of trucks, some with 2 or even 3 trailers in tow. I felt like I was 5 feet from heaven all morning. Not many chances for photos.
In the afternoon, we alternated between frontage roads that parallel the highway, and more sections of Route 80, when alternates were not available. We had cross winds and headwinds all afternoon, cutting our touring speed from 20 miles per hour to 10!
The quiet town of Lovelock was a welcome site at the end of the day.

A whole different landscape experience!
-On to ROUTE 80-

You can see the traffic(and riders) from a long way off.
