June 26 Day 25 92 miles

We saw 92 miles of wide open fields today! Much of the morning was spent riding through an enormous wind farm with what looked like hundreds of machines. We sometimes see parts of a new wind tower being transported on the road as an oversized load.

There was one stop of interest at our second SAG stop. Fort Larned was a western outpost that protected transportation over the Santa Fe trail in the late 1800s. There are still a few vestiges of the trail to be seen.

We made it to Great Bend, Kansas by mid afternoon, and have time to prepare for tomorrow.

On the road from Dodge City through more Kansas countryside.

Wind machines as far as the eye can see.

This sign tells us that we are half way to New York. We are not half way to Portsmouth yet!

Fort Larned is a beautifully restored piece of 1800s history

Passing through several small towns on the way, we eventually reach Great Bend, Kansas.

So, more importantly, in Kinsley Kansas, did you make it to the Sod House and Museum?
